Laurie Theriot Roley, MD

2023 President

Dr. Laurie Theriot Roley received her medical degree from LSU School of Medicine–New Orleans and completed her residency and fellowship in geriatric medicine at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. She is triple board-certified in family medicine, geriatric medicine and hospice and palliative medicine. She received her MBA from Auburn University in 2017. She currently serves as the Head of Geriatric Medicine for Prisma Health. Her clinical time is spent at the Woodlands at Furman providing post-acute and primary care services and at Greenville Memorial Hospital for inpatient geriatric consultations. She also has the honor of serving as medical director for Interim Health Care of The Upstate.


When not working or collecting certifications, she enjoys travelling and spending time with her husband, Dan and daughter, Victoria.


Meredith Bergey Vejnar, MD 2023 Secretary

Dr. Vejnar received her medical degree American University of The Caribbean School of Medicine in 2012 and completed her Family Practice Residency at Greenville Hospital System in 2015. She is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. Growing up as a missionary kid, sometimes aboard a hospital ship, inspired her to be a physician. She takes a keen interest in preventative health, dermatologic procedures, women’s health. Dr Vejnar enjoys seeing patients of all ages. She runs a medical aesthetics practice called Lumour in addition to practicing family medicine at Premier Family Medicine in Greenville.


She and her husband Mark have five beautiful children. They enjoy hosting friends and family, traveling, cooking, biking, and exercising and homeschooling their children. In addition, Dr Vejnar also enjoys crocheting.


Nancy M. Netter, MD

2023 Treasurer


Dr. Netter is an undergraduate of Furman University with Bachelor of Science in Biology. She received her medical degree from The University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia, and completed her Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania. She is an MDVIP Affiliate with a private solo practice in outpatient Internal Medicine. Dr Netter was the first continually practicing concierge medicine doctor in the Upstate. She focuses on wellness and prevention, especially hypertension, type 2 Diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.


She is married to H. Benjamin Smith (“Benji”) who is owner of Flagship Properties. They have 2 sons, Jack Smith, a recent graduate of Furman University, and Sam Smith, a recent graduate of High Point University.



Frank A. Clark, MD

2023 President Elect


Dr Clark received his medical degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and completed his residency in Psychiatry at Palmetto Health Richland. Dr Clark is board certified in Psychiatry by The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He serves as Clinical Assistant Professor at The University of South Carolina School of Medicine-Greenville. and Medical Director & Division Chief for Adult Inpatient and Consult-Liaison Services for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at Prisma Health. Dr. Clark has held many leadership positions in national organizations including the American Medical Association and the American Psychiatric Association. Locally he serves on the board of directors for Mental Health of America.


Dr. Clark has a strong passion for medical missions work and has traveled to numerous countries including Zambia, Ireland, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Canada, and Haiti to serve others medically and spiritually. He considers his faith a significant factor in his success and his practice. Spending time with his family, running, writing poetry, and traveling are three avid interests of his that help him keep balanced. He is married to Jennifer Clark, NP, who specializes in Psychiatry with Prisma Upstate, and they have a daughter Claire, age 4.

Jeffrey W. Elder, MD

2023 Immediate Past President


Dr. Elder earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at the Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, GA. He was Chief Resident of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama and completed his Fellowship in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Kentucky School of Medicine. Dr. Elder joined the Prisma Cancer Institute in August 2013 and specializes in Gynecologic and Surgical Oncology.


He was also an All-American swimmer at The University of Tennessee.
